Does everyone do fancy quilts or does anyone...

I wouldn't call any of mine fancy. However, I do make some that are scrappy and some that are planned with matching fabrics. The planned ones are my favorites, but I love using my scraps as well. Most of the time I give the planned ones as gifts and keep the scrappy ones for myself. I agree with amma about them being used, laundered, and loved :)

I do both and for kids under 10, I tie them . When they become teenagers I make them each a hand quilted one. They all like them and I think it's because I ask them what I should do and what colors. I really wouldn't like them to be disappointed. But I DO love to make Fancy ones also.

The only traditional quilt I've done was a crib-size log cabin. Since then, I've done a red-work (embroidered) queen-size with additional applique, a twin size rag quilt, and two lap quilts (appx. 55x75). Each of the lap quilts were of my own designs including hst/qst squares-in-a-square, etc. But they were not of a traditional design. I'm hoping to do a scrappy Irish Chain and have begun to accumulate the small blocks of fabric for it.

I am not advanced enough nor do I have time for fancy at this point in my life! I would love to have more time and at some point in the future after retirment......if I live that long plan on making all kinds of wonderfully involved quilts. Untill then once in awhile I will try aninvolved table tunner but even that unfortunatly takes a month or more to finish.
