A bed runner size may work as well, no angles.

Thanks for the idea. I asked my 2 girls to make me one for Xmas I suggested like a prayer shawl but made out of cotton fabric but I didn't get one so now You gave me an idea & I will make myself one...go for it and show us your finished project

This struck me funny--I made a quilted Christmas tree skirt for my daughter's future in-laws last Christmas. Her future mother-in-law loved it and wore it on her shoulders! So I know first hand that this will work!

In reading all these posts, the drape has been my question, and this might be the answer! The pictures in the links look awfully stiff. Or perhaps, back it with fleece and don't put any batting in it at all. But I think the tree skirt is a great idea for a pattern!
