Default Donate quilt?

I made a quilt for my brother and gave it to him for Christmas a few years ago. He loved wolves so I made a DP9 quilt highlighting the wolves. He passed away two years ago and I got the quilt. I would like to donate it to a worthy cause, an suggestions? It is queen size.

Maybe you could check with a local fire dept. they may have the names of families that have lost items for fire and need help

Wherever there has been a tornado, flood or other natural disaster you can contact the churches in the area to find out who is in need, but I like the local fire dept idea very much, too.

I sure am sorry to hear of the loss of your brother. How nice of you to think of donating the quilt to someone else.

On "Pictures" there is a post by QM on donating a quilt to a forest fire victim. You might Private Message her and inquire about that.

Find an organization that is near and dear to your (or his) heart. I like to donate to local veteran's shelters and homes.

I haven't used this charity but my best friend has:

Quilts of Compassion
PO Box 350296
Toledo OH 43635

Janice Grimes

They take anything: blocks, tops or quilts and they donate them to where a disaster is located.

My first choice would be to give it to another family member (son, daughter, wife, nephew, etc.) to whom the quilt might mean something special since it was associated with your brother. If no one like that came to mind, there are good suggestions above. My condolences at losing your brother.

If you have a local quilt guild, contact them. They usually donate lots of quilts to various causes and they know who needs and appreciates them.
