Minou,
Actually I usually so sew my binding to back and fancy stitch to the front. Especially strong for baby/kids quilts, and those I do for charity.
Love trying all the stitches my machine offers. Fun to play and quick.

Pegquilter8 and harrishwhippets,
I would love to see a picture of how you finish the bindings with a fancy stitch. That sounds neat!

I have two posted in the pictures area. Go to better pictures of decorative bindings. If that doesn't get you there hit my name and look up the posts I've started to get you there. Any questions just let me know.

Yikes! At least it's fixable. The worst mistakes are the ones that are beyond repair. I've never (YET) had any that I couldn't make right one way or another, but have made some monster boo-boos that are almost beyond belief. That's when I think I should be in a home for the incredibly incompetent.

My worst (and sad to say often reoccurring) boo-boo, is when making the binding. I get all the strips I need all lined up and if the fabric is a little hard to tell which is right or wrong side, I'll sew them different ways. One night, I took them apart 3 times and when they STILL weren't right, I threw them on the floor, stomped on them good and proper and left the room

Yeah!!! Just not me then, but with me it's only one and in the middle of my binding. Yesterday I cut all my strips for warm wishs to short, cause I used my binding ruler instead of my 3" by 18, which I always use for warm wish's strips. My squares were 9" so I had to cut all my squares down to 6". Wasted a lot of fabric that was fussy cut to begin with. I must make this quilt every other week for charity, don't know how I did this.
