BKrenning, this is my first EB pattern. If I repeat it, I will cut all the square parts to fit, but may leave the triangles bigger. I have been able to use my Omnigrid 12 1/2 square ruler.
On the plus side, 18 blocks - my first with triangles and they were all perfect!!!! They are set on point and I have my 1/4" at the tip of each so I won't lose any points. Yay.

I notice that many of her techniques have you cut big--then trim. Her flying geese I tried 2 weeks ago left a lot of wasted fabric. Although the technique is easy--the waste bothers me as well. I finally went back to the old fashioned way of making them--as I was running out of the fabric!
