Default fabric suggestions for a 9 yr old boy

I want to make a small quilt for a 9 yr old boy who likes video games.
I don't have a clue what collections or on line stores to shop for this.

He is waiting for a heart transplant, and just had Heartware put in this past week, to suffice until a donor becomes available.
I want to do this so he can have his own quilt, especially for hospital visits.

I plan to make it a scrappy quilt and will probably put a square in the middle with his name on it.

    thanks for suggestions.

There have been several "Minecraft" quilts posted on the board --- that is something that is supposed to be very popular among the kids. One was just a large block quilt of the "face". Someone will post here that can add the link to go look at them....i don't really know how to do that.
Best of luck with the quilt....i and certainly hope that this little guy gets his new heart and makes a full recovery!!
Only suggestion i'd make is that it be very washable....it will surely get lugged around to a lot of places !

Most boys like dinosaurs. How about a disappering nine patch with "boy" things in the big patches. You could include sports, dinos, cartoon characters, etc.

I recently made a MineCraft Creeper quilt, for my 9 year old great-nephew. He's a big MineCraft fan, so he loved it. He also loved the cat quilt, I made for another child. As long as it isn't too babyish or girlie, 9 yo boys are usually pretty easy to please.

An online store called Bug Fabric has lots of children fabrics. Go search there and see if there is a fabric that inspires you. good Luck, so nice of you to do this for this little 9 year old boy.

PS. They even had a fabric by Timeless Treasure on Pac Man!!

There is a line of fabric for "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" available - my 10 year old grandson would like it, so maybe ?

There is some cool video game print fabric at www.fabric.com, it has a black background in bright primary colors that would be perfect.
