yes, I agree, Doak's book/cd are the best way to learn pp. The first time I tried it-at a guild meeting with one of the members showing how, I was so confused--I thought NEVER!!, but after a few years tried again with "Doak at my side" and said WOW. I certainly would not do it for everything......I do use the vellum paper that is made for pp,,,easier to tear away........

Yes, it's addictive. The quilt I'm working on has been totally pp.

Good for you!!! It's a great way to keep accurate points.

Just a word of advice - there IS a difference between "foundation" piecing and "paper" piecing. Foundation piecing is where you sew the patches onto a fabric background, and the background is left permanently in the quilt. Paper piecing is where you sew the patches onto a paper background, and when it's completed the paper is torn away. I make this distinction because I have a friend purchased a product labeled "foundation piecing sheets", thinking it was the tear-away kind of paper. She was quite upset when she realized (after making several blocks) that the foundation she'd used was NOT tear-able - it was the kind designed to be left in the quilt.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information about the Connecting Threads video. I just watched it and am now excited about paper piecing. After watching the video, I no longer fear paper piecing. Thanks!

I was leery of paper piecing too, then found Craftsy.com and Peggy Martin's Strip Paper Piecing Class on sale. Best investment I have made in a while. Love it and love her technique. I bought some special paper over a year ago in anticipation of learning paper piecing. Then Peggy said she just uses cheap copy paper! Tried it and it works great.

I have loved paper piecing for years, but, when I haven't done it for a while it is kind of like getting on that old bicycle that has been in the garage for a couple of years.....rocky at first, then zoom, into the rhythm!
