Christmas has gotten so commercialized, we all need to get back to the basics, back to the real meaning of Christmas. A sharing from the heart is the best gift of all.
I think this is an awesome idea!! There are so many things you can tell your children and grandchildren about the history of their family. This year for Thanksgiving we sat around the table after lunch and did just that. We talked about things our parents and grandparents used to do, how we got together, what we cooked, games we we played as children (there was no TV, electronic games, etc.). We also asked the children about their earliest memories. Doing something like this as a letter or journal would be so great for your family -- and it would be so personal. Merry Christmas.

So happy for you, I hope that next year will be better. These are tough times. I am lucky to have sold a few things lately so I am thankful for those extra dollars.

Great find! It does feel good when you 'hit it big' at Good Will.

Ditto what everyone else has said. That auction is a great idea. Sounds like what we need to do to put some "zip" in our family gathering of adults. I think I am going to call my sister right now.

I am also going to have to take a walk through the local Goodwill.
