I jump around a lot. I have quite a few tops started now. I will eventually get back to them though. I always do. I am always anxious to move on to the next one.

I accumulated lots of tops in my first 6 years of quilting, because I couldn't get my machine to co-operate with quilting. Now that I've retired and have had more time to work on it, I'm beginning to win that battle, and so this year is a quilting year! It's great to have lots to practice on. But I've still pieced a couple more tops to give myself some variety. And my current project sometimes comes to a temporary halt because I don't buy all my border and backing fabric and quilting threads before I start - I so often change my mind as I go on, and I can't afford to buy stuff that doesn't get used. So I sometimes have to put a project aside until I can get to the quilt shop, and then its useful to have a WIP to pick up.

    i work in three.

i always have one project in the prep phase - dyeing, printing, cutting.

i always have one project in the piecing stage.

and finally i always have 1 project on the quilting frame.

this way i spend time every day or so working on those skills so they never get rusty.

I finish a project to the point where it needs to be quilted. Too afraid that I will lose something important if I don't finish one top at a time. Needless to say, I have about 8 tops that need to be quilted.

You do what feels right for you. The quilt police does not exist! Everyone's personality is so different. Some cannot work on more that one at a time, and others need the diversity! Enjoy what make you happy!

I jump around too, right now I have 6 that need to be sandwhiched and quilted and I am itching to start a new project, but have forced myself to quilt at least 2 before I start a new one. I am finding that I like making the tops better then the finishing,
