Thank you all for such kind comments. Rereading these are bringing tears to my eyes....The support on this board is amazing! I do not post much but really wanted to share my story. Again, quilters are very special people and I look forward every day to looking at inspiring quilts; reading snippets that people have posted; or even yummy recipes! Keep up the good work!

So cool that your mom still knew you, and was so happy about your quilt! Interesting about her withdrawing from conversation, but still smiling....my mom did that, too. At first I'd constantly remind my brothers to be sure that we included her in the conversation. Later I realized that she couldn't follow along conversationally, so we would always be sure that one of us sat right with her and hold her hand so she would feel included.

What a beautiful, wonderful story and what a treasure.
Bless you for doing the quilt for her.

What a heart warming story. I am so sorry for your loss and I bet your mom couldn't be more proud of you!

Would love to see a pic of it.

How great it can be when we are able to maintain positive relationships with parents and off spring throughout our lives. It's "win win'. Great too that quilting brought solace in dementia. You're very wise.

What a touching storry!!! Reminds me of my own talented mother. Your story has come full circle; your mother is so happy that you've taken up the needle where she left off.
