I spray baste all my practice pieces, this way they are just like the quilts.

That's what I'm going to do. On some of these tutorials that I've been watching the practice quilt looks a bit stiff as if it's spray basted and looks easier to manuver around and then you don't have to remember that you have pins in. Thanks for the info.
