I do a lot of Linus quilts with foldover binding. Like several others here, I tuck excess backing under the batting to make two layers. I do think that a regular binding gives better opportunity to control the shape of the quilt edges.

I tried the fold-over method once...looked horrible and didn't hold up well at all, so never again for me.

I have done both ways... and I do feel like the fold the back over is quicker. I don't always like the looks of the back on the front and sometimes I just want a contrast so I use separate strips for the binding
