    Does that "varegated" have metallic in it?
    I would worry about the future lifetime of the quilt,
    (because the metallic might not be as strong and long lasting as 100% cotton) vs the beauty!

    I have used Gutermann thread for years . I always use same thread in bobbin that is on the machine except for embroidery.

    I had to look again as ya raised an interesting question. But, no, there is no metallic in this thread. It goes from dirt-brown to a creamish-tan color and back. Has some dirty yellow and some other colors that are in-between. The pic is rather blurry but, that is all due to my killer photo skills. ;-) Or lack of, I should say.

    Beautiful quilt! Do you mean that you sewed EACH of those 1,500 2 1/2 inch squares??!!!??? You're a better person than I am. I'm ALWAYS looking for the short cuts!

    I'm a Gutermann girl myself. Though I've never used the yellow colored spools on my machine - only the white colored spools. (Perhaps a different thread weight?)

    You will love the Gutterman...it is much higher quality and you will have less lint and breakage...only buy it when half off at JoAnnes.
