I would like to learn some basic embroidery stitches. Do any of you have suggestions? A good book/author or even utube ideas would be fantastic. I would like to learn the correct methods instead of jumping into it with a needle, thread and silly ideas.... :) Thanks!

With all the great websites I bet if you do a Google search you will find one.

I google all the time! What I am asking for is a recommendation for a good teacher or method. I think there are many people here who have a lot of experience and I would treasure their opinion.

Check your public library for some good reference books. Too bad you don't live closer! I would show you!

I learned to embroider in Home Ec. class about 100 years ago, so I can't really recommend any books. I did teach myself to crochet last year from videos on YouTube so you might check there.

If you get started and have any specific questions, I'd be happy to try to help you out. It's really pretty easy to do.

Thank you for the replies! (cool 2nd link) As I have been thinking a lot about this, there is one thing I figured out. I think I may have asked the wrong question!

In retrospect, I think I should have asked "What stitches do you use in your crazy quilts?". Silly me, still learning...

The ones I have seen look like blanket stitches.

A good embroidery book is titled A - Z of Embroidery Stitches. It's put out by Quilter's Resource Publications. It's full of detailed, step by step instructions on any kind of embroidery you want to do. I find it very helpful.
