I am a fellow hand quilter. I can understand your "frustration", hope I didn't over step my bounds in calling it that. I too see all the beautiful machine quilting but just don't get any real satisfication from it. I was surely disappointed in the last quilt show I went to last year in south eastern PA. All the prize winning quilts were machine quilted. I will continue to hand quilt, but I truely do enjoy this site and get many, many ideas and am inspired by all I see hear.

I have a hand quilted - quilt-as-you-go that I always take with me when I am travelling on the train, bus etc.

I love hand-quilting. For many years, I was afraid to use a sewing machine - long story. I know do both, but have found that I may machine piece, I tend to do hand-quilting about 80% of the time. What is sad is that at the last quilt show I attended, there was only one hand-quilt displayed - at least from what I saw.

I, too, machine quilt the baby gifts. What goes on my bed is handquilted.

My daughter-in-law's mom hand quilts. In fact seeing her quilts is part of what got me started. I haven't done it yet but think I may soon.

Kudos to all of you who hand quilt. I think that is wonderful. It is not something I enjoy. I am a person who "hurries" everything I do and that does not fair well for hand quilting. But, oh, it is so beautiful.

I have done both but there is somthing to be said about the comfort of sitting with a quilt on your lap as you hand quilt.
