if so would you do them again and do you have any advise or tricks that you learned. I cant seem to figure out what to do with this quilts borders so why not try scallops most everything else in this was something new to try.

I never did scallops but have watched tutes/videos on them. The only thing I know is to use bias binding and take your time. If you want to learn, may as well be with this quilt since it's been a learning experience. It is a beautiful quilt and looks very time consuming!

Nice! My only suggestion is that if you want to try scallops, put a straight border and then add the scalloped border. The quilt is very busy and it will get attention. It will look even busier with a scalloped border, but if you separate them by a straight border it will soften up a bit.

I did scallops on a small quilt and it adds so much. I drew my own pattern by finding middle and then rounding the corners...use newspaper taped together to get the scallops you want and use gentle curves and bias binding is a must..good luck

I did them and they came out great. What I did was I put a regular border on, marked my scallops, quilted it, sewed the bias binding on, then I trimmed off the extra batting/backing. Eddie has a good tutorial:

What a beautiful quilt!!
I watched a video online (I think it was Missouri Star Quilt Company but am not positive) anyway they did one with a special ruler and it looked very doable.
I would love to get that ruler.

I just did some. Look in the pictures section, under commissioned runner..they are easy enough to bind ,the hardest part is getting the scallops to come out even. You may have to fudge and make one or two a tad bigger or smaller.
