Go ahead and make the quilt. You might be surprised at the result.

Some cotton fabrics have a lot of sizing in them that gives them a different feel. It will probably feel and look great when complete.

Fro crying out loud! What is this obsession with 100 percent cotton? I have quilts I made from blends 30 and 40 years ago and they are as soft as down and the colors are still true. The bindings are worn, but that would have happened even if they had been all cotton. But if you have got to have 100 percent cotton, give the kit to someone else to make. It looks cute as a bugs ear to me. froggyintexas

I agree with ckcowl, whether poly cotton or cotton, it's a baby quilt, will get lots of washing and poly/cotton blends can stand up to the many washings. Double check the package instructions, and perhaps they will have the content of the fabrics listed. It looks like a quick, easy quilt. If you decide you don't like it after washing it, it would make a good charity quilt.

Just love the colors and I think once you have it made you will love it to. IF it is not 100% cotton, it is NOT the end of the world. I will bet it will last through hard use and many washings one way or the other.

I am with you 100%, just like the people who think all Wal-Mart material is trash beneith their feet, we are not the quilt police and good material, 100% cotton, poly cotton if it is good materal, it should not be the end all to have 100% cotton only.

I use blends in a lot of my quilts, and never had a single problem. Just take care when you press. Poly will melt and/or burn a lot quicker than cotton. I agree, the blends often hold up BETTER than cottons, to the use and abuse a well-loved kid quilt gets. Go for it!

Make it or use some newer fabrics with the pattern. I would then use the other fabrics and make a second quilt to be used in the car or when the new grandbaby is at your home.

I recognise some of the fabric in you kit. The fabrics were in a jelly roll from Spotlight which I think is the Australian equivalent to Joanns. The packaging stated that it was 100% cotton made in India. I found the fabric to be of poor quality with a low thread count, and just to handle it for cutting it frayed excessively.
