    I just bought several Billy bookcases from IKEA -- you can get doors to go on them, and it's all relatively low-priced. They're a perfect size for doing alaskasunshine's fabric folding idea:

    I think I would use the closet. But, I would want wooden shelves. JMHO..

    i agree re-do the closet- make a shelving unit.. and use it like you do your bookcase then take the bookcase and use for your notions..

    Like some of the others, I would do the closet to protect all of that lovely stash from direct sunlight and dust. Good luck.

    I have the IKEA Antonius units in my stash closet. They are stacked on top of each other. Another one is under my embroidery work table. I like that the baskets won't rust and that I can see what is in each basket.

    Also, the price was great.
