Help! Pattern suggestion for to pretty to cut fabric collection
It’s just to pretty to cut into small pieces! I’ve been collecting gorgeous blue and white, mostly medium and large print florals to make a Cal. King quilt. I originally planned to make a snowball pattern but I’m bored with that look, could anyone suggest a pattern with larger size pieces? Thanks in advance

BQ is a good one. uses large cuts or 10 inch squares I think. several versions of that pattern at mapleislandsquilts
and missouri star quilts has patterns or tutorials for layer cakes (10 inch).

I recently made this BQ4 pattern and was thrilled with it! (not so thrilled with the instructions, very confusing, but I was at a retreat and had lots of help). I am going to make it again with a very large poinsettia print. I saw a completed quilt on the wall at a shop in FL and fell in love....when she showed me the pattern I was less than excited! The picture lacks any personality, but the quilt is awesome!.

I like to make simple quilts with really beautiful fabric. 6 or 8 inch squares with a simple border around each square. I love to use the rich Kaffe Fassett florals with simple prints like polka dots as borders. It's fun to make a bunch of squares with similar patterns and then take time to lay them out so they look great. There are so many interesting color combinations you encounter when you don't plan too much. It's also easy to piece and looks beautiful when it's quilted.

Here's a free pattern for large "no waste" flying geese using layer cakes; should show off your large prints really well.

Walkabout or MSQC's "Spice Rack" (same pattern, different colors) can be done with large feature squares. I have made similar quilts using 9" fussy cut squares. Also, there's this layer cake friendly quilt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKZOn4F5MTk
