No, not echo quilting, this is a sort of just meander all over. Kinda like a winding road or a river that is flowing back and forth across a meadow.

If you know what a stipple is, think of much bigger scale.

DH thinks anyhow that I am going nuts wearing gloves this time a year........

I think I will practice on these swirls by tomorrow. Just picture them in better shape and in the white part of the fabric. Dont you think it adds some movement?

The swirls look great! They are very forgiving to mistakes too. If it makes you more comfortable, you could try to match the top thread to the color of each block. After a few quilts, I'm just now getting brave enough to use a contrasting color.

On your first sample with the 1/4 curved triangles, the bottom right looks pretty good. There is definitely a learning curve with FMQ. Don't forget, once it's washed and puckers up a little, what you consider mistakes, others won't even notice. :)

What kind of gloves are you wearing? I like the machingers. They are lighter than the gardening gloves and fit so well, I can even change the bobbin with them on.

Can't help you on the quilting since all I've done so far is SID, but I just wanted to say how much I love this quilt. I love the pattern and your choice of colors. The recipient is one lucky person.
