Red face Help with transfer of patterns

Hi I have several Brother machine embroidery cards that I can no longer use due to exchanging Brother embroidery machine to a Janome. The cards were expensive and I hate to see them wasted - does anyone know how to transfer them to my PC (legally) - I no longer have theBrother PE system and am loath to purchase a new one

what kind of 'card' /usb does your janome take? how many cards do you have?
ETA: oops, i see that you want them on your PC
so you would need a brother card reader, right?
do you know anyone locally that has the brother card reader? they can save them for you to a USB or CD. then you can use a free converter to convert the PES to JEF. here is a link to free software http://www.myembroideryhaven.com/samples.html

Yes, exactly as above. The cards can be read to your computer with PE Basic reader/ writer , Magic Box, or other boxes that will read/ write. You got good advice to ask around of your embroidery friends who can read and save to CD for you. I would be happy to do so, but I'm in Tennessee, USA. After the cards are copied for you, perhaps you can sell them.
If you get the cards read, then convert to your format with free softwares...Wings My Editor, Pulse Ambassador, WilcomTruesizer, several others.

...
selling the card after copying them would be a copyright violation because the designs are still being kept.
