Default Help! What would you make with these?

I found a UFO that consists of many 3" scrappy squares sewn to 3.5" purple HSTs. All are sewn to the same side. (see photo) There is also a large stack of scrappy 6" HSTs. Were it not for the purple HSTs sewn to the one side of the 3" squares, I could think of lots to do with them, but now they have me stymied. This is a UFO I was gifted with, and I love the scrappiness and want to finish it.

I'm hoping maybe someone with computer software could play with it and come up with something to help me.
Hugs and smilesssss............

Can you add another small triangle to the bottom of the square & triangle unit? Then sew this to the larger triangle and trim to maybe a 5" square?

I agree to sew another triangle to the square. Post a pic and we can give more better advise.

It would have to be a different color, what would you pick to go with a deep intense royal purple? I have a dr. appt. today but will try to get a photo for you all asap.

Basically, tho, everything is very scrappy except the 3.5" purple triangles.

I would try and find a print in the deep purple and make it into a triangle and attatch to the other side of the square. Another idea would be to use teal as a triangle. Good luck and hugs.

What about this? Attach the large triangle to the long side of the square/triangle set. Then add some additional 6" squares and get a block that looks like this, with the purple (or red in my pic) highlights. You will likely have to trim the large triangles, and the squares will be less than 6". Or I got a lovely hexagon block by adding more of the scrappy triangles instead of squares.

If you like it an want actual measurements, let me know and I'll draw it up in EQ when I get home.

Krista, I really do like it!!! And the friendship star is one of my favorite blocks! I think I can figure it out with my graph paper from here. Thanks so much!! I'm a happy camper!

I would be interested in seeing the hexagon block tho, I haven't done anything with those except OBWs.

Well, if knew the difference between a hexagon and an octagon, that might be better. You can get an octagon from this (8-sided block), not a hexie. Octagons are harder to set - you have to use squares between them because they don't fit into a solid pattern like hexagons do. But here's my attempt at an octagon from this - like I said, just replace the corner squares with triangles instead. Then you can set them with the flat sides together, and on-point squares to fill the spaces. Or set with the angled sides together and fill with smaller squares.
