Default he's gonna think im crazy, but....

IM totally serious..!!!! My sewing room get soooooooo hot.. I sit under quite a few halogen 'spot' lights and boy oh boy I cook in there.. We have central air- I promise- but unless i freeze everyone else in the house I cant cool down my room enough to want to go in there and sew... Soooooooo I was thinking of having him put in an ac window unit... Am I crazy for wanting a beautifully lighted sewing room that gets cool enough to want to work in there???? I do have to say I appreciate him installing my absolutely wonderful 6 bulb extending light fixture.. I can see so much better, but now IM really HOT !!!!

Window unit or everyone else wearing winter coats ??!?!??! hmmmmmm...

No, you're not crazy for wanting it! All I have to do to get boiling hot is go upstairs to sew. All our heat goes up, so it's very hot in summer. But thank goodness we have it with ac. Or I would be downstairs sewing on the kitchen table.ha. Go for it. You can get window units for not much, I think. Sister put in one with heat and cool. in her sewing room. Sometimes our body thermostat gets out of control. Grin

How about checking out cooler bulbs? I had a 6 lite overhead w/spot lights and cooked as well. Found halogen were cooler and fit in the sockets and saved me! Linda

I stand under 3 100W bulbs when I cut fabrics on my dining table and roast. I use a fan when it gets hot. I use the old light bulbs and have bought lots of extras.

I use OTT Lites 100 watt and my lit area does not get hot at all. But, I do understand where you are coming from, before I changed to OTT Lights I too was roasting at my cutting table.

I keep a 6" oscillating fan plugged into my power strip all the time and use it very often

Well, you could open the window in the winter and that should help. Once the temp outside goes up, then, by all means, use the window AC! We have one in our bedroom because it's on the sunny side of the house and would have to lower central AC by about 4 degrees to make the bedroom comfortable. So, no, you're definitely not crazy! You're logical!
