Default How best to use this butterfly fabric

My SIL loves butterflies and I'd like to make her a small quilt, I guess a lap quilt, for her birthday. The fabric is this one
    HTML Code:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Butterfly-Fabric-100-Cotton-3-Piece-Lot-Fabric-Traditions-Glitter-Black-/161584371919
and I'm having difficulty envisioning what design would work best for this medium sized print. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I would create a nice background then fussy cut butterflies and applique them on, maybe with a big bouquet or something. There are some wonderful butterflies on that fabric that could be used for many quilts

i would choose an alternate special block... perhaps an embroidered or pieced butterfly ... and sash with cornerstones.

I have a very similar fabric with dragonflies. I was going to do what QuiltnNan suggested, use it for the plain block in an alternate block setting.

How about a cute purse? Bow Tucks or the mini Professional Tote?

I would make a snowball and nine-patch pattern. Pick up the colours of the butterflies in the 9 patches. here's one I found on google http://quiltaddictsanonymous.com/201...ng-not-eating/

Just an observation - this is a 3 piece lot - read the entire description before buying. The 3 separate pieces add up to 2 yards but they may or may not work with the block(s) you chose to make.

I know I would use it for large blocks. I love that fabric and would not cut it up very much.

I used this fabric in Warm Wishes, using it as the focus fabric and picking colors from it. It could be very striking. You can cut the block any size you want. Since you are making a small quilt use small blocks. I think I used a six inch block for a full-sized quilt.
Another pattern (one of my favorites) would be the D9P with this as the corners and picking out the other brights for the rest.
