How to build your stash!
#32
I've spent the last 4 years building a stash, and now it will probably take longer to get rid of it and buy some newer updated fabric. I suggest you never have a stash becasue the fabric goes out of style.

I buy as much fabric as I can afford of a print I like (I by precuts -fat quarters, jelly rolls and charm packs) I make sure I have lots of blenders in my stash so I can do a complete project and I buy fabric as needed for specific projects always having some left over for my stash.... the biggest thing though is as much yardage as I can afford of stuff I love

I use to buy a lot of yards...I have plently. Now I find I like buying fat qtrs - I wait till they go on sale for .99 stack up but buy two of the same kind and then 111 sets with projects in mind.

I buy mostly by the yard. I used to buy anything that I liked that was on sale or deeply discounted, but nowadays, with money so tight, I only buy what I will absolutely use, such a solids in my color range ect, that I know that I will use. These days, I am much more selective when building my "stash"!

Nothing worse than not having enough fabric to finish your project. I think 3 yrds is a good amount as a main fabric for a pattern. I always think about the cost /yd. Since I rarely buy at my LQS at full price, I always ask myself how much extra it would be for that additional 1/2 or 1/4 yd. It's usually not worth the worry for a couple bucks.

typically when working from your stash its been around for a while and trying to find that additional 1/2 yard you need could be really hard.
