I was doing the same thing - selling them through LQSs. My one instructor said she stopped marketing her patterns because it wasn't worth the time and money she invested to produce. I haven't done much with my patterns lately but when I'm ready to do so, I'll probably sell them on etsy and set them up as .pdf files so they'll be easy to download and print from the customer's computer. Saves a lot on overhead.

Just a thought. Good Luck on your success.

Thanks. I have found some LQSs don't want me to teach because they need the $$. Also, I have to sell my patterns to them wholesale-$4-$5 so they can sell them for$8-$10. There has to be a better way to make more profit and I'm going to try the different avenues all of you have listed. I can't thank you enough!

Have you thought about having a booth or sharing a booth at a quilt show? Google quilt shows! Pm me! We can discuss, I work them for a company and give you info? I will be going to Market this month!

I really, really like www.patternspot.com because I can download the pattern immediately. No paying for shipping and no waiting for mail.

Thanks for your suggestions.
Have you thought about offering to do workshops for quilts guilds? I know we are always looking for fresh ideas and the teachers usually speak at a meeting in conjunction with a workshop where they can sell their products.

Try the "Craftsy" website. Just received an email from them yesterday.

Dear Editor,

I love the newsletter. But I'm more than just a crafter and a student. I also make patterns and have been selling them on Craftsy. You highlight one pattern every issue, but how about giving us designers some more info?

Thanks,
—Melissa

Hi Melissa,

Happy to hear that you love the newsletter so much, and are so involved in the Craftsy community. This truly is a great question! We are in the middle of creating a brand new newsletter aimed directly at indie designers looking to sell their patterns and creations. This newsletter is going to premier in the coming month, so make sure to keep an eye out for it! It will contain all sorts of great information that will help designers like you create a brand, build a community, and keep up with their growing success. No need to sign up for it. If you’re already a designer here at Craftsy, you’ll begin receiving it automatically.

My best,
—Megan

I have bought many patterns from youcanmakethis.com, that might be worth looking into.
