If you have some extra fabric, mark it with the same marker and iron it. Then run it through the washer. It may surprise you and come out.

Take your quilt to the bat tub or kitchen Where ever you have a sprayer. Lightly mist a corner with soapy water like a little laundry soap. Some other soaps have fragances and dyes. Soaps with fragrances have oils you don't need that. Have the colored side on the bottom. Then rinse the bottom of the quilt so it's on top. You know like flipping so the top row is under neath that way it's not going to run to the other side. You can see how it works by just doing a little area. you may want to try some spray and wash or shout.

I will try that then, thanks Hinterland, if it comes out I will weep with joy! I imagine there is no product i can use - as heat is heat so guess it is set in or not. Fingers and toes crossed. It is a gift and I would be so upset if it is toast!

Oxy clean is good too. someone posted about ironing some marker and it came out. not sure what kind though. I used washable green Crayola and didn't iron it but it took six washes with everything I had to get that out. I tossed my markers after that.

6 washes! Oh my! I used green sewline before and had a problem with that ( most came off, a patch did not ) I used applique to hide it. But I have long green lines here as I read up on the washable ones and felt confident. Can't believe I took iron over it. So stupid... Anyway thx for telling me as I will wash and wash...

Ok- it came clean on the test fabric after "ironing" with just cold soak....!!!! I did test the washable crayola on the fabric and wash before I started I may add. So hopefully it will come out the main quilt!!!! - if not I will try your recommendations and will buy some oxy clean too.

Huge thanks all for your help - hugs

I have used those washable markers on a quilt fabric that was previously washed. I marked and ironed repeatedly over areas to really check out how it washed out on a recently finished quilt.
I just threw it in the washer with detergent and let it go through the whole cycle, threw it it the dryer. When done no marker left on quilt.
I do hope your comes out as easily.

Yakkity, thanks SO much for letting me know that, I will sleep easier. That was a good idea to test it so thoroughly.
