There are groups of Prayers and Squares quilt ministry in many churches. You can Google them to get their website. There are over 900 chapters all over the world and there are all levels of quilters. It is a gret organization without dues and many people love to help and teach this wonderful art.

I hope you can find some others in your area who are wanting to teach and learn. It is so nice to have friends to call upon in this craft.

So many lone quilters. Makes me feel like I fit right in. I didn't realize there were so many of us out there. The creative process, for me, is kinda a loner activity. I run ideas past my 2 daughters, and they are good at giving good feedback, but my quilting time is usually spent alone. Deb watkins, my quilting time is surprisingly done between about 8pm and 1:30am. Weird how that happens, huh.

I recently moved to Missouri from Indiana and left my quilting buddy behind. :( However; I have free long distance and we make plans for me to call her at an appointed time and we sew for 2 or 3 hours at a time. Sometimes one of us will sew and the other one just talks. We call it our 'therapy'. We even have a web cam that we use sometimes to ask each others advice about a fabric or to show off our latest finished project. Works great for us.

Hotrod...I think you are not too far from a quilt store in Camdenton, Mo. Haven't been there yet, so, if you do, let me know what you think:)Skeat

It is so great that you can still get together over the distance. Isn't technology wonderful?? What would we do without the things we take for granted everyday?

I quilt alone and with a group of 12 ladies twice a month. It is a wonderful group of women. They meet 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 10:00 to 2:00. The hose provides Tea, coffee and we bring our lunch. It gives opportunity for us to share our lives, see what each other is working on and get help and opinions if we run into a gliche.

I'm a lone quilter pretty much. I do belong to a guild that meets once a month, but I don't quilt with anybody. I have one friend who enjoys collecting quilts, but she never makes one. However she and I talk quilts a lot on the phone and computer.
My girls all love getting quilts as gifts, but would never consider making one ... too time consuming.
