I hand quilt everything, have never tried machine quilting, I have a kenmore. I would like to take a class to machine quilt. The biggest quilts I make are twin size.

I'm too cheap (poor!) to pay someone to quilt for me - I do all my quilts on a Brother innovis 1200. The more I quilt, the easier it gets. Practice makes perfect (perfect enough for me that is!) You just have to do it enough that it feels 'comfortable'. Find a design that you can deal with (meandering, waves, whatever) & practice practice practice. It doesn't have to be perfect; small mistakes get lost & are not noticeable. And fabric choice (like for your backing) is something to think about too - a busy fabric will hide a lot...invisible thread helps too.

I have only made a few twin size quilts. I have quilted them all either by hand or on my Kenmore. This Christmas I did send the one for my in laws to the LQS and it turned out beautiful!

I quilt most of mine on my Janome, but just do straight lines or stitch in the ditch. It is just a regular type machine. I have sent a couple special quilts to a longarmer. I have a Singer 301A that I am going to try to do FMQ now that I am no longer rushing to get gifts done. Santa gave me a darning foot and 1/4 in foot for it.

I quilt them myself on my Janome 6500. I have done a Kingsize on it , but prefer to stay with a bit smaller ones. I had sent out one of my quilts to a LA'er ; but was so dissappointed in it being stiff as a board ; that I won't trust anyone else with them again.

I FMQ with my domestic machine. I hope in the next few years to upgrade my machine to get a larger area in the throat...but for now, what I have works because I have gotten used to using it.

With FMQ, it just takes practice....practice...and more practice.

How in the world did you get all that fabric through your machine. I really would like to know. I have tried and I was a failure. Please give me some tips.
