How many years did you spend stocking up on fabric before retirement?

I don't think you have to try to stock up as it will happen. I've I ly been quilting 15 years but find my taste in fabric has changed since I started so my advice is don't stock up-- just buy it as you go along.

I have been collecting fabric for fifeteen years without a thought of retirement. I will be at that point in a few years. There is more fabric in my stash than several lifetimes could use up. If I can't afford to finish quilts with batting in my advanced years I'll just keep making tops and turn them into duvets so people can add their own blanket in the winter and remove it for the summer. Money will be tight for me at that point. I'll just keep on making tops!

I THOUGHT I might make a quilt someday, I hung out with a quilter even went on shop hops with her at the time I was a beader so we did bead stores too. Now a few years later I had to start quilting because I had bought too much fabric just because it was pretty to me. When looking through my stash I am surprised at a lot of the fabric I had purchased and can't remember why I bought it. Almost everytime I make a quilt I still have to go out and buy more fabric plus I share my fabric with my step granddaughter she is better about shopping my stash them I am. She is always telling me I can't buy anymore fabric.

Years and years
first time a out 20 ys.
got divorced moved back into my moms cellar with one milk carton full
got that up to 18 totes.
The BIG ones.
got remarried, moved with my son and cat into my dh apt with one...you saw right one, donated all of it.
bought this condo,1000 sq feet, now have over 12 bns and a few shelves, a sewinf
g room, under the livinggroom ta le one half of the dining room ta le and three chairs.
my dh is a saint
Wet to joanns yesterday spent $21.00 saved $27.00 . Forgot a pattern so i went today and got some more. But...please keep in mind, it hiday gift making time and donation time, so i gotta getstuff made, and we all need sale fabs for that.

I haven't retired yet, but I knew my job was coming to an end. I bought fabric that was geared more towards specific projects to stash away hopefully until I can find a new job. I need to work to support my quilting habit!
