Would love to have a place like Elm Creek Manor to go to. There isn't anything around here almost tempted to do some research and see what the viablity would be to start one..
My Dream really ..

I just finished reading the first one....loved it! Can't wait to start on the next. And I sure wish there was a "manor" out there for quilters to have a retreat at! :)

Maybe someone could start our own Elm Creek quilters on the board? I wonder if it is permissible for the blocks to be posted....say if one knows what they are and are willing to make a sample block to post, then we could all do it as time permits. What are thought on this suggestion?

Love the Elm Creek Series. Be sure and read Runaway Quilt. Good Read.
I am blessed to have two friends who got me into quilting three years ago. Twice a year we go to one friend's home in Iowa for a long weekend (she has a long arm machine) and sew, visit quilt shops, eat, and quilt round the clock. So relaxing and so much fun.

creativesheila has started a book discussion group and Cross Country Quilters is our first book to read and discuss. We read 3 chapters a week and then post our thoughts. We even shared some of the activities that Sylvia had the campers do when they first come to Elm Creek, like how many wip do you have, years you have been quilting, and even some anagrams of quilt block names.

The Elm Creek Quilters book called Sylvia's Bridal Sampler has 140 traditional blocks and the directions/templates for all of them. There are several people already here on the board that are doing their own Sylvia's Bridal Sampler. I have started on this as well.

Thanks,
Sherryl
