    Default How much to buy?

Hello Everyone! Quick question: When you find "must have" fabric but do not have a specific project in mind for it yet, how much do you usually buy? Thanks in advance. Have a great Sunday!

If it was something I really liked I guess I'd buy 2 or 3 yards.

2-4 yards if it might be used for a backing. One yard as a center to add borders to enlargen it. A FQ to add to the stash...All depends on the $$$$$$$$ in your pocket. Hugs

I found one that I wanted desperately in Stuttgart, Germany. It cost 19 euros a meter-almost $28 at the time! They had 2 meters left of it and I bought it all, no end of bolt discount or anything!! I LOVED that fabric then and I love it still. I have yet to find a pattern for it, but when I do I will know. That project will be made for me!!

I would probably buy 2 at most. If it was a solid, maybe more. Even if I love the fabric, I don't want *that* much of it in a single quilt.

Speaking from experience, buy as much as you can. I purchased a batik when I was out of town for a wedding. I purchased 3 yards. I haven't found a pattern for it yet but one of these days.

2-4 yards IF I have no plan. But I like scrappy bindings and pieced backs so I tend to use most of the yardage.

    Good topic. I buy 2 - 3 yards.

Anyone know about a chart that shows how many yards for fabric you need for each size of a quilt top?

Also, if you see fabric that would make a great one block wonder (OBW) how may yards for a lap quilt?
