I got and my SIL made a table out of it with piece of walnut and it looks great with a plant on it.

There was a time when tables were made from the legs of treadle machines with a marble slab for the top. Very popular at one time.

I have just the black wrought iron legs from an old tredle singer machine. The rest of it was in unsalvagable condition so I had a piece of 1/4 inch plate glass cut to lay on top and use it as a laptop stand, sometimes for some african violets in front of an eastern window and sometimes as a stand behind my sofa and a writing desk in my bedroom. I have made several and end up giving them away to someone who thinks it's wonderful

Great idea. I have seen this done and it will look great. Just don't pay to much the base. I paid 115.00 for a fully working treadle machine; three drawers on each side and a tip out drawer in the front; all the attachments and the drawers were filled with old tools bobbins pins etc.

We made a bathroom vanity, just dropped the sink into it, it is quite the conversation piece.

I have seen them done with an oval glass top (in fact I have one I'm waiting for my husband to convert for me.) and they are beatiful.

I have an old American treadle base with a piece of blue stone for a top. My mother has one also and uses her for her tv and cable box. A real fun re-purpose I did was last year with a friend. He needed a game table for his basement/man cave. I saw an idea in a magazine and used it --- we stacked bowling balls for the legs using some bolts and plumbing pieces. Looks great! So, go for it...people have used stranger things to make furniture out of.
