Billy...this made me smile. My DH has made a few "pick up" trips for tractors and parts where it was going to be close getting everything loaded on the trailer. I tease him that tractors are his "porn" and he teases me back that quilting is mine. LOL

There's always room for more machines :-D :-D But forget the boyfriend for the daughter theory..they always come back, if not the two of them, then her and the baby!!! ..or the two of them and the baby!!! I'm more in the mindset of a convent

Okay, so today I went and picked up the new baby! Here she is:

Now that she's got a new home, all I need to do is give her a bath, oil her joints really well, and get to work! I'm just giddy with excitement!

And lookie! A drawer full of cams, bobbins and other stuff that go with her!

What a beautiful machine. I have a treadle machine waiting for me in a little town in Utah that my great-aunt gave me before she died. Luckly a friend was willing to 'babysit' for me till I can figure out a way to get it to MI. I have a quilt that she pieced for me on that machine. I don't even know where to start to get it here. Anybody got any ideas?

Awe Odessa,
Wow! Very nice! I am so glad for you that your Mom thought to ask you about giving you, your new baby! Sharing (handing down) such a sweet momento is so sentimental !
Now let us see a pic of the first block that you make with her with that unmentionable fabric! roflmao

That's a beautiful treasure! You're so lucky! :)

Wendy, the ONLY way I'd get that sewing machine to where I am is to pick it up and drive it myself...no way would I trust any shipping companies!

First, congrats on the great machine! This whole thread cracked me up~~~ I have a soon to be 18 year old son who has decided that since he's started college a whole year earlier he'll just save money by living at home and graduating from the local college. Dang. There goes that extra room...We have, however, threatened him that when he DOES make the decision to go he better be sure about it~~before the door closes behind him his room will be transformed to NOT his bedroom :)

Oh that's a LONG drive! I would love to see some of the cousins I have left there although it isn't the same since great-aunt died. She was the one holding us all together. I'm the only one out on east side of country since grandpa left Utah and never went home. Married the bosses daughter and settled in MI. I'm not sure if family really forgave him, both for that and not staying with LDS church. We always felt welcome when we visited but it was thru his brothers and sisters. She has been gone for 8 years now and I have really got to get that machine out of friends parlor. What happens if something would happen to them? As it was, they had to get out of my great-aunts house really quickly when estate was being closed. She had left a note on it saying it was to go to me. Boy did that cause a fuss after she died. The attorney actually intimated that I had forged the note and the signature was not hers! I was livid. Oh well, I was lucky I had made friends a couple of doors down during my visits and she and DH came and moved it to their house. I would have lost it if it had not been from them. It is so heavy because of the metal on the treadle. There are drawers on either side; they are curved. It is a really pretty cabinet. I'm not sure the make of the machine but it is not a Singer. If I remember correctly, it has lots of pretty gold engraving on it. I just don't know how I would drive out there and back myself. DH can't take time off, course I would not go in winter anyways. Going over the pass in CO in winter would be a real bear. There has got to be a reputable moving company out there.
