a woman who works for me, her sister in law was diagonosed w/lung cancer around thanksgiving. by right after new years, she found out the cancer was metastazied in her bones. they gave her 2 wks to 2 mo...
the woman that works for me is a new quilter, and we had planned to make a quilt for sil to take to chemo etc...but we when she found out the time frame & sil was coming home so i said i would do it..
it was a super simple red 4 patch, glued some photos on it, quilted it really simply, just diagonally thru the squares, folded the fleece we used as backing over, stitched it down, called it done...
i went to the wake when sil died. there on the bottom of the coffin, was the quilt i made her... with the photos draped over into sil lap...they buried the quilt with her...
her mother, daughter, sister & brothers all thanked me for making it...
