Yes, just finished a quilt top using dark browns to light gold. I'm a bright color person so this was totally out of my comfort zone but I thought well............I don't have to live with this quilt so once I finally got started, I started liking it. It became a bargello once I figured out the pattern using Bargello Stretcher program. I'm happy how it came out too but so glad its done. I've now moved on to brighter colors.........working on a couple lap quilts one in purples and yellows and the other in blues and oranges. Much brighter and I'm having fun again. I try to make the quilt with colors the recipent likes, sometimes that's difficult for me but once I get started, its not so bad.

New baby decor and colors are all for the mom, not the baby. Make the quilt your DD wants and then all the others can be your choice. Both my DDs were that way. A few quilts later for the grands, they admitted the baby quilt they chose wasn't all that pretty compared to the play quilts I made.
I put together a color combination I didn't like. I ended up stalled on the quilt for quite a while even after removing those parts until I figured out what I really wanted to do. I simplified my color choices and have started working on it again. I found that I am just not motivated to work on projects I don't like. The quilt is for my grandniece. I have the advantage of my niece not knowing I'm making the quilt so all choices are mine. This one is a girly as it gets. All pinks, whites and lavenders in the main body of the quilt with Sunbonnet Sue medallions in the corners. I'm somewhere around 1/2 to 3/4s of the way done with the top now and am making good progress.
Make the quilt your daughter wants (it's her colors, she can't blame you if they don't work out) then make the quilt you want to make as a reward to yourself for finishing that one.

I just finished a KING size quilt top for my daughter in a pattern and colors I would never had chosen. I had all I could to keep moving along. I finished the top last night and it really isn't all that bad. Not my choice, but she has to live with it. I totally get what you are saying. Just be thankful it is a baby quilt. Our children without OUR vision want what they want. Makes us step out of the box sometimes but it's the time and effort we put into it that hopefully means the most to them.

Quilting Girly - could be curves or Rounded Feathers, shells etc., piecing could be more round pieces than squares or rectangles ? Ruffled Edge ?
same goes for that Chocolate Brown, olive Green, mustard colors... I don't know who the Designers are.. that pick these colors...ugh.... I like Crayon Colors for the baby Quilts... gets them started on learning about these colors early in their lives... and the colors are pure color not some odd color that will probably get changed in 4 years anyways....when the room is changed to Toddler or preschooler design... Good Luck hope to see your Posted Photos when your Baby quilt is Done...

I made a comfort quilt in colors that I really didn't like but it was what they wanted. I have had so many compliments on that quilt, it staggers me. I still find it eye popping and mind staggering to look at the photo, but it has been a favorite of many.

I made a few quilts after asking what colors they would prefer, and didn't love the fabric or colors, but was happy to make something that they liked. Try googling "coral and navy nursery" and then click on images, and you'll get more of an idea. I think the color combo is really nice! maybe it will grow on you

Hehe, I love dark and bold colors, so for me I get all uninspired when I'm working on something with pinks or pastels or florals. So naturally half my family LOVES those colors - if you looked in my scrap bin you'd probably assume I loved them too. So much foo foo!!
My favorite quilts end up looking sort of Amish-inspired; dark backgrounds with rich, jewel-tone brights. I love that look.
