I got carried away . Does it happen to you?

On Caigslist I found a sale on boxes of fabric. So I called and went to check it out. Turned out to be a local quilt teacher who's children are cleaning her condo out. Lots of fabric, class projects ,unfinished quilts(20 plus) and bolts of fabric plus yards and yards of good cotton. Ten dollars a box so 6 boxes and a few bolts , rulers, books and sulvy packs I left with a full car. I have most of the boxes gone thru repacked and ready to use.I spent 5 to 6 hours so far. Now I only have the whites , creams and Japanese fabrics to refold. I am feeling guilty what if the teacher gets better and wants all this back? And what if I become ill and can't use all this up? I believe it could very well happen. I would want my 3 girls and DIL to have what they wanted then my church, then the James Sisters who make quilts for those with cancer. What do you think? Is this a good idea?

I think you need to look at it like this: the quilt teacher chose to give those things away of her own free will, and you accepted it.
If YOU get sick, decide you have too much, etc etc...then YOU do what you feel best doing. If you want to give it to your daughters, your church, then do it.
Everyone in this life has free will. The problems start creeping in when folks don't speak up for themselves and their wishes. :D

I hope when my time comes that the correct people look through my things. My son has no clue and my husband, well, he doesn't have any idea who many squishes I really have.
I guess I'll probably give everything to a church and let them have a huge tag sale or a quilting guild. However I'd have to come up with something else for 25 years of cross stitch projects all kitted up and ready to go. Sigh, I hope I've got time to come up with a plan, I'm 49 afterall, no spring chicken.

You girls need to stop thinking of your demise. I have told my daughters--3 of them--who do not sew that they need to make sure my things go to a quilter, and that subject is closed. I will do my best to use it all before I go. I figure that will give me a long long time before I go. You can't take it with you so I'm not going until I figure out how to take it with me!!! lol

We acquire things that we like. These crafts, beads, fabrics, quilt books, artwork for our walls, etc. bring US pleasure. WE enjoy our 'things.' After we are gone, our families might sell them, use them, or give away to someone else who would enjoy them. But we have accomplished what WE wanted - acquiring some things we like, that brought us happiness, filled our time, and let us create. That's how I look at it.
