I love Dick & Jane. Just great way for young ones to learn to read. I've bought sets of the books for grandkids that were struggling with early reading skills & now they're both great readers & the books have been passed to younger sibs

Your quilt is so cute. I agree that we maybe ought to go back to reading Dick and Jane. Whoever thinks that one time around the block gives everyone mastery of a word isn't thinking straight. (And yes, I taught for 38 years). I had my students memorize such things as Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, the preamble to the Constitution, etc. They hated it then, but I have been thanked many times as the students got older. Repetition (think quilting lessons) imbeds phrases in our minds which never goes away. Keep on making those cute quilts.

I remembered Dick and Jane ( also Spot) but had forgotten Sally! I and my 6 siblings all learned to read from the Guffey Readers. They also taught us manners and a host of other traits to help us become good adults.
