This lady has been posting ideas of what you could do with orphan blocks.

I love to make pot holders as gifts. They are easy and very decorative. Mug Rugs are also nice. Or, you could put them on the QB under items to sell and maybe some of the QB members would love to make a quilt out of them.

This year Patchwork Posse has a "52 quilt block pick up" to do just what you are asking about. She has some great ideas and many weeks yet to go in the year.

Do a row by row quilt using different blocks for each row. Use them as a focus block in a pillow or bag. Make covers for e-readers, cell phones, laptops, cameras, etc. Make potholders, trivets, or borders on dishtowels (for small blocks).
Add a row on a jellyroll quilt at the top and/or bottom.

How about using them to make a patchwork jacket, using a sweatshirt as the base? This could also be done using a regular clothing pattern. If you have blocks for children, you could make a great gift for the grandchildren. My granddaughters love anything I make for them and the brighter the item is, the more they prize it.

Love this idea, can always use grocery bags, plus gotta remember your teabag quote.

One more suggestion:
I do not know what to call it but how about the thing you use to keep track of items when you're in bed? Part of it is sewn with pockets and another part tucks under the bed so it will stay in place. The pocket part hangs down the side of the bed to hold the stuff.
My mind is going. Did someone suggest making a bag to hang off a walker? Or one to hang off a wheel chair? I've seen rather elaborate ones that functioned like purses.
I am keeping track of this thread too. Great ideas. Thanks.
