I love quilting but I hate making tops

AshleyR, I hear you! I love looking at patterns and picking out fabric, but the cutting and piecing just seems so tedious to me! I don't mind helping my sister-in-law press, but tackling a quilt top by myself is not so fun. Fortunately, I LOVE playing with our new longarm, so I'm going to have fun quilting all of the tops that my sister-in-law cranks out!

You make my point precisely on what K3N was saying on another post about 'the race to the finish'. That there are those of us who enjoy getting the tops together; and others who enjoy the quilting and the finishing. I LOVE to put the tops together and don't enjoy the rest of it that much, unless I have a true reason for making that quilt. But on the whole I simply enjoy seeing my idea come to life in seeing the quilt top. And so many, like you, who so enjoy the quilting and possibly the finishing of the quilt.
Oh, and now I see that you live in Knoxville. I live in Etowah, TN, so we are very close. I have several things that you might enjoy doing working on. We could maybe work something out.

Well I guess you can put me in the class of "love to make tops", don't know how to handquilt and then I put them in the closet. Once in a while I have one machine quilted but I just can't afford it often. My friend has been showing me to hand quilt for years but due to uncontroled circumstances my quilt is still rolled up to take and we can't seem to get together to spend the day. Seems as there are a lot of quilters on board who would like to swap making quilt tops for hand or machine quilting. I suggest we get a list started and each group posts pics of their work and then get this problem solved. Seems the swap price out could be attended between the two involved. If not then go on to another quilter listed.

I wish you lived closer Ashley. I have two of the largest Rubbermaid bins full of completed tops and there are more even though my goal all year has been to quilt one a month. I now have 10 completed quilts but will be a long time getting to the bottom of those piles. A quilting buddy who loves to quilt would be heaven sent.
