I love quilting but I hate making tops
#71
I love to make tops but hate to quilt. I am just not good enough yet to attempt to do it myself. One of these days though, I will be. I keep praying for the expertise I need to do my own. I just don't want to mess up all my great work on the top. I could make tops all day!

Wish you were my neighbor, I'm a TOPPER ! ... it's the quilting that bogs me down. Doing more machine quilting now, but I rarely hand quilt anymore. I used to years ago, but no time now

I love making tops and hate the quilting - machine or hand. I wish you lived closer, we could be buddies! Want to hand quilt my avatar, a hand appliqued Vintage Valentine?

I love quilting. I love hand-quilting and I'm good at it. I am having fun practicing machine quilting, but I'm not good at it at all (yet!). I would love to quilt for hire but who can afford a hand-quilter??! My dream is to partner up with someone who loves to piece and she/he makes the tops and bastes them (ha) and I quilt them. :)

My girlfriend and I would do that exact thing when we would make charity quilts. I enjoyed the piecing she enjoyed the quilting. She asked me once if I would like to go into business with her and I told her that I thought that working on someone elses deadline would probably take the fun out of it. It was fun when I could do my own thing but not so much when I had to work within someone elses choices of design, color, and pattern. Then there was the fact that my DH retired and we moved out of state. Ann in TN

I don't dislike making tops, but FMQ is what I live for! I can't wait to finish a top so I can quilt it. When I finish quilting one, it's like finishing a good book- really enjoyed it, and sad it's over! I FMQ my sis-in-law's quilts, but she works full time and doesn't get very many made.

I'm exactly the opposite. I love the whole process of making a quilt top from planning the design, shopping for the fabric, to piecing all those small pieces together and seeing the design emerge. But, I hate to quilt! So, our solution was to buy a mid-arm quilting machine. I'm hoping that quilting will become fun when I get skilled at using my machine. I hope you can find someone who can partner with you and you can both enjoy your respective parts of the process and produce lots of stunning quilts.
