Me too. That way the side border strips aren't so long and sometimes I don't have to piece.
Actually, putting top and bottom on first makes your side borders longer because they have to border the top/bottom borders now.

I had no idea that it mattered! I have made 29 quilts and just find this out?? About time, I guess. :) Seriously, I did not know, and I am also not worried about it. As long as the borders look okay, I don't care which goes on first.

(Yeah, I counted my quilts....have the count on my calendar. I do that because my sister always said she wished she knew how many she had made, and I have only been quilting a bit over 2 years...so it was easy for me to figure it out. Sis has been quilting 12 years.)

Your quilt......your way. I don't think I have ever heard that it had to be done a certain way. I have done it both ways depending on the quilt and the look I wanted. No sin here!!

When I read the subject line, I thought "what? you used metal staples to quilt the sandwich together?"

I'd leave things as they are, if you like the look of them. If you don't like the way it looks, rip, rip, rip!

    Quoting from the QUILTER'S BIBLE

"Thou shall always apply borders In thine own way and anyone that doth protest is a quilt police figure in disguise"
