I'd go with the purple, but thinner than shown. Just a bit of accent without overpowering the pretty blocks. JMHO

A medium gray would be my first choice. What color will your setting triangles be?

I think gray would be good. A medium gray perhaps even one with a purple cast.

I agree with Onebyone, you really don't need any sashing, your stars would look like they are floating, but then the idea of a medium or light gray to blend in to the back ground would also let the stars pop.

My choice would be a Blue/purple shade slightly darker than the background print fabric. Neither the black nor yellow work for me very well. jMHO.

I like the purple - but maybe that's because its my favorite color? My second choice would also be a darker gray - the black seems too stark to me. Good luck and nice blocks!

I really like the purple best. A green would be another option. To me there is already so much yellow in the blocks, that yellow sashing seems a bit over-bright.

I also agree; either use the background grey or a charcoal, if you want more contrast. Also, agree with a narrower (say 1" finished) sashing.

I agree that it would be fine without sashing, but she is doing quilt as you go, so she has to put the blocks together with fabric strips, i.e. sashing.
