Default I need your HELP and suggestions please

I'm making this quilt for one of my past students. She is expecting her first baby in July - its a girl. Her theme is Hello Kitty. There is a 6 inch sashing around the quilt in the hello kitty fabric and it will be bound in bright pink. Anyway, what I need help with is how to quilt this. As you can see from the pictures, the back will be a block pattern so that the quilt will be usable as the baby grows up. As it turns out, when I placed the front on my own twin bed, I realized it was big enough to cover it. I got the brainy idea to make the quilt reversible. But now, I realized I don't know how to quilt it so that the front and back will look equally good.

Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Patti

Not sure about the quilting. I think that the quilt will be super no matter how it is done. This is really cute. BrendaK

Thanks BrendaK and meyert. I'm thinking I may have to just tie the quilt, but I'd really like to do some quilting on it. I have a longarm machine and I'm itching to continue to use it

I love the clothes line effect on opposite side. If it just had the blocks I would go corner to corner making x on each block but with the opposite side I don't know if I would like this so I suggest you just meander it freestyle. Very cute quilt. Would love to see it when you are done.

I would just machine quilt it from the front highlighting the features. You would be able to see the outline from the back but that wouldn't bother me. If you want the back not to have the outline, a large meander or crosshatch over the whole quilt might be your best bet. Cute quilt top!

I'm all for meandering I love to write little messages in the meander and I would love to do that for Jessica's baby. I'm glad someone supports the idea. My sister, who is more like the quilt police, made one of those famous guttural sounds when I mentioned I might do a meander

I'd do the meander. I've found that when I make reversible quilts it's really the only type of quilting that doesn't detract from one side or the other.

Absolutely a meander with some nice words on it would be lovely. I love that you did it reversible - looks wonderful from either side.

The top and back are adorable! Hello Kitty will stand the test of time, so that quilt will be used to tatters!

As for quilting, How about doing an "X" in the blocks and then outline quilting the clothes on the line, the line, the bird and the flower of the front?

That would tie front and back together nicely.

Good luck!
