I have to agree with most everyone; leave out the orange. If your daughter told you the mint and gray, just do the mint and gray. I have been on the receiving end of things that the maker thought needed "just a little more" and I ended up hating it and stashing it in a closet.

Personally, I would leave out the orange, or use a soft sherbet shade. Last year I made a surprise wedding quilt for our niece. Her mother told me her favorite colors were sage green and gray. That was a challenge in color value, so used varying shades of both colors with white. It turned out beautifully and is one of my favorites.

I agree the orange is too bright. However, I just did the same thing (orange) with one of my quilts, and that was the first thing your saw instead of the pretty panel. I should have gone with a darker/softer orange. Maybe a border in orange to bring it all together.
