If you buy it now then you will be set for retirement... BUT I will say this. I bought my machine - not as expensive as yours but waaay more than I ever thought I would spend... I told myself if I bought this one I wouldn't never have to buy another one... guess what?? I bought another one

I am glad you bought it!! I am happy for you.... and jealous too!

    Good for you!

And great news about the discounts that satisfied your thrifty self. LOL.

    Enjoy and have fun.

Oh how I wish I could be the voice of reason and give some practical advice, but I'm with Knitette!
If you feel this is 'the one' then go for it, by the sounds of things you would get so much joy from it.

do it, do it do it!

Congratulations! Now don't start denying yourself new sewing tools and fabric because you already spent to much. The machine is bought so you can forget the price.

Congratulations - I'm sure you will love sewing on your new machine! I ended up spending a bit more than I planned when I decided on the Bernina 780 E. It's an incredible machine and likely to be my last. My first machine I used for 18 years, my first Bernina I bought used 8 years ago - without the bells and whistles I really wanted, but couldn't afford. So now have my dream machine in my sewing room and I'm not afraid to use it. I've had limited training on it but have multiple classes in the next few weeks. Nana , I hope you get classes with your new machine too. I'm excited for my classes, I've only had the machine a week and I already love it. I can't wait to discover all the great things it can do!

They gave me 10% off for purchasing the floor model, so that satisfied my need to get a 'deal'. And another 2% for paying cash.

I pick it up Tues or Wed. I can hardly wait!!!!

Thank you all so much for your input. I was being way too frugal...you guys gave me the impetus to do something fabulous for myself!!
Yippee for you. Please report back after you've started a project. I have the Brother equivalent and simply cannot believe how wonderful it is to use.
