I've just completed 16 Sunbonnet Sue and Sam blocks and I was wondering what you would do in the background for machine quilting? The background is a cloud fabric but I'm really terrible at machine quilting so not sure if I'd even attempt doing a pattern in the background or not.

Since Sue and Sam are an old-fashioned looking block, what about tying it?

Great idea. I just might do that and save myself time and frustration, thanks.

I might try that on a scrap block and give it a try. One of my Sam "boys" appears to be "floating" anyway so maybe I could attach a string and balloon to his hand.
