It works best if you put the line of the ruler on the fabric edge and the point of the ruler on the top seam.Originally Posted by Loretta
Couldn't you put the ruler on the seam line OR the fabric edge ? It seems like either way will work.

I thought I was studying James, or was is it the Psalms ... let's see... I know it was a Sunday, and it was hmmm ... only thirty years ago (or more!) LOL ... goodness! am I REALLY getting THAT OLD????? LOL
I bought my DH a tshirt that says you know you are getting old when happy hour is nap time. I feel like that a lot and I am 29 lol. Nothing wrong with being older though!! :) Just mean you know how to enjoy life more than u "thought" you did when you were young.Originally Posted by omak

Thanks for the well written directions. I just tried it and it works perfectly if you forget about that 4 1/4" cut that was a mistake on the video. You could be a pattern writer!Originally Posted by n2scraplvr

If you take two 2.5" strips and lie them next to each other you have 5".
If you sew a .25" seam up on side you loose .25" of each strip which should
give you a 4.5" stripe.
How come they say your sew piece should be 4.25" instead of 4.5"?
Math is not always my friend!

Jenny, the one who did the video, said it would be 4-1/4" but this is not correct. I just went by what she said without thinking about it when I typed the instructions up. You are right - the new piece comes out to 4-1/2".
