Ditto. However, I always unplug the power strip that my sewing machines are plugged in to.

It has happened to me so now I have a note when shutting the light off to unplug the iron. I am so glad you found it before you lost your home.

Thanks for the heads up. I will take your sad experience to heart and start unplugging. I am so glad you lost nothing but the iron. We have all been forewarned.

I always unplug my iron because I am afraid the cats will knock it over on the iron board.

I have all my quilting and ironing stuff on serge protectors, and when I leave the room I turn everything off to them.

Good thing you noticed it. I always unplug my iron anyway it doesn't have a on/off button it will shut off after so many min. left on with no movement so I just got in the habit of unplugging. Glad you didn't have more damage. Sue

Thank you for the good advice. I think that I forgot to unplug mine when I left the studio today. Will go right now and check.
