Congratulation to your friends! I would do a double wedding ring with batiks.

I just made a quillow for my son and the pillow I made a star raining down a rainbow but for a wedding present I love the idea of a rainbow wedding ring, that would be really pretty. congrads and good luck to them.

A Double Wedding Ring Quilt would be beautiful. A light colored fabric for the background w/bright colors for the Wedding Rings. I bought a book called: "Rings That Bind" by Cheryl Phillips & Linda Pysto. I ordered the plastic stencils as well though their site at a discount price. Check out this video of how it is made. It looks easy, but have not tried it yet.

You did not say whether they were male or female, but my gay children (DD and friends, who are here painting my house), suggested a rainbow colored background, with the gay couple's symbol in the center. (two male, or two female symbols.)

The double wedding ring in Rainbow colors is great, but that pattern scares me. If it is too complicated for you, how about a blooming 9 patch?
The pattern comes from a book called traditions with a twist. I made one in rainbow colors, and it was striking. I don't have a picture of mine but here is a link to a blog with a picture.
